Character Trait for the month!

Monday, August 22, 2011

My word for the month of July was ORGANIZATION!!!
The Bible says in I Corinthians 14:33 "For God is not the author of confusion,..."  Then again in verse 40 we read, "Let all things be done decently and in order."  Since our family recently moved in to an apartment that is smaller than other places we've lived I knew that organization would play a huge role in making this work.  I've always liked to be organized anyway, but it is even more important when down-sizing a little.  You know the saying..."If mama ain't happy, no body's happy"!  I want my kids to be organized too because they will use this important character trait all through their lives.  Organization (or the lack of it) affects almost every area of our lives.
Even though our apartment is smaller, this mama is happy and enjoying her home that is filled with love ♥.

My word for the month of August is PRAYER!!!
As you may remember, prayer was my word in June.  However, I have several things on my heart right now that just need some extra time in prayer.  Some of these special needs are personal while others are for family and friends.  One prayer request that you could pray with me about is the salvation of Lena.  She listens as Ron and I share Bible verses.  When she doesn't understand something, she asks questions.  What a blessing it is to my heart to see her interest in the Gospel.  The greatest joy will be the day she makes a personal decision to accept Christ.

Summer Fun!

Friday, August 12, 2011

Our summer is quickly coming to an end.  We have had lots of rain and cooler temperatures.  Another thing that marks the end of summer is that we are quickly losing our daylight.  Rather than being light well past 11p.m., it is now completely dark by 10p.m.  Before we know it, it will be dark by 3 p.m.
Anyway, all of that to say....
The past few weeks we took some extra family time and enjoyed the warm summer weather and I am so glad that we did!
We were invited to a summer house in Jaama and enjoyed a boat ride around the {big} pond in their back yard.  Here are a few pictures from that.

(I wasn't ready for the picture since I was trying to grab the dock so I could have my camera on the boat.  Also, I was disappointed that Caleb can't be seen.  He is sitting next to me, behind Ron.)

Sarah was pleased with her Lily that her brother picked for her

After our boat ride, we walked around the little village and then went back to their house for tea, smoked fish and chocolate.

During our walk we noticed this flag that was flying at the house across the street.....
the California flag

How suprised we were to see that!
Our host was amuzed to find out about the flag too.

From there we drove a little further to LakePeipsi so the kids could go swimming.  It was our first time there and boy was it beautiful!
We parked on the side of the road and walked down a sandy path and were greeted with this view

The kids had such a wonderful time playing in the {warm} water.

We were also told about a beautiful place in Saka by a lady that comes to church.  So one warm afternoon we made the 25 minute drive to see what it was like.

There was a grand hotel called SakaCliffHotel&Spa where we parked our car.  When I saw the word CLIFF in the hotel's name I should have been a little more prepared for what was ahead.

this was almost like going down a ladder...not stairs

this water is the Gulf of Finland

a different way back up....think I like this one better =)

almost back to the top looking down

a view of the Gulf of Finland from the top of a building
I found out just how out of shape I am after climbing up and down all those stairs.  By the time I reached the top, I was wishing for an oxygen mask....not really. However, I was perfectly happy to be the one to walk up a little slower with Caleb.  But I quickly found out he had plenty of energy and didn't need to stop and rest as much as I thought he would.

It was a special treat to enjoy God's beautiful creation!

A splash of color!

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

The other day we woke up to an overcast sky and rain.  The day just had a gloomy feel to it.  So when I made the cream of wheat for breakfast, I decided to add a little color to our day.
This little bit of "bling" was a nice touch and put smiles on everyones' faces.
